Criminology Society at York

The Criminology Society at York University (CSY) is an undergraduate, student-run organization designed to offer both academic and social support to students majoring, or otherwise interested in criminology. Established in 2004, the club has over 250 members and represents over 750 undergraduate students in the Criminology Major Program at the university.

The CSY assumes the role of a student-faculty liaison, which is a core element of our mandate. This proves particularly crucial when changes occur in the degree program, when we hold academic conferences, and/or when we organize cram sessions. Additionally, our executive council comprises of peer advisors, engaged academics, and students looking to accommodate the needs of our fellow-majors. The CSY is eager to serve as a home away from home for all criminology majors.

We aim to fill the space between where the classroom ends and the career path starts through criminological events, off-campus career excursions, career nights, academic speakers, and more. The CSY aims to merge academic and recreational interest to new criminological theories, concepts, current issues, and prominent figures in the Criminal Justice field.

Future plans for the CSY include establishing a series of guest lecturers, creating an online resource for criminology related content, and creating partnerships with other student-run clubs in universities across Canada. Additionally, we are looking to facilitate volunteer placements with local organizations for our members.

Our memberships include:

  • Priority access to our events and field trips.
  • Cram Sessions for CRIM 1650 and CRIM 2650.
  • $400 off of Princeton Review prep courses for the LSAT, GMAT, MCAT and more!
  • Certificate of Participation for all general members who attend a minimum of three (3)
  • Discount on our CSY Swag – including our Criminology T-Shirts.
